Mani Ratnam trying to make a 'Bahubali'!

With the massive success of 'Bahubali', filmmakers across the country are showing interest in making such grand films. Though many tried, none could recreate the magic of Rajamouli's film.

Vijay's 'Puli' which was touted to be Tamil 'Bahubali' at the time of its release, failed badly at the box-office. Senior director Sundar's efforts to make 'Sanghamitra' went in vain as the film never kicked-off. Ace director Shankar's magnum opus '2.0' tried to beat Rajamouli's film but it stood far behind the latter. Our directors too made high-budget flicks like 'Saaho' and 'Sye Raa' but they couldn't reach the level of 'Bahubali'.

Now, master director Mani Ratnam is gearing up to try his luck. He is working on the film adaptation of the famous Tamil novel 'Ponniyin Selvan'. This film's cast includes big names like Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Karthi, Aditi Rao Hydri, Mohan Babu, Keerthy Suresh and many others. Mani Ratnam spent over a year on the pre-production work of this film and is producing it under his own banner along with another producer. The shooting will be kick-started in the thick forests of Thailand in a few days. This will also be a two-part film as per sources.

Let us see if Mani Ratnam could match the visual grandeur and epicness of 'Bahubali'.
