Maoists kill two BSF troopers in Chhattisgarh

Update: 2013-11-12 09:37 GMT
At least two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were killed Tuesday when Maoists ambushed their vehicle in a forested part of Bastar region in Chhattisgarh, police sources said.

A third BSF trooper was seriously injured in the attack in Sukma district, the sources said. The BSF personnel were leaving Bastar after ensuring a largely peaceful first round of election in Chhattisgarh.

The sources said the attack took place on or near a bridge, about 380 km from Raipur. No further details were immediately available.

Bastar, which is bigger than the size of Kerala, has been a stronghold of the Maoists for some three decades.

The first phase of Chhattisgarh assembly election was held Monday. The second and final round is due Nov 19.
