Maruthi works his magic with Manchi Rojulochaie

Ace filmmaker Maruthi is a master when it comes to rolling out low-budget films that often tend to perform well at the box office. His previous films Bus Stand and Prema Katha Chitram prove the same. But after scoring a blockbuster with Nani's Bhale Bhale Magadivoi, his first big-budget film, Maruthi shifted the course and went on to direct only big-ticket films henceforth. He followed it up with Mahanubhavudu, Shailaja Reddy Alludu, and Prathi Roju Pandage. Not so long ago, Maruthi took another biggie, Pakka Commercial, an action entertainer starring Gopichand onto the floors. But this film's shoot was halted due to the Covid situation and in the meanwhile, he took a small-time project titled Manchi Rojulochaie onto the floors.

Manchi Rojulochaie is a comedy entertainer starring Santosh Shobhan and Mehreen in the lead roles. The film mainly banks on Maruthi-mark comedy and the interesting thing is that the makers shot the film on a shoestring budget. The entire filming part was completed in under a month and this resulted in lather low production costs. The film was wrapped at a brisk pace as well. Now, the film is said to have fared pretty well at the box office. It has apparently grossed over Rs 5 crores at the box office in the opening weekend. The entire production costs were recovered through the digital and satellite rights which were acquired by Aha Video and Star Network respectively.

With a theatrical gross of Rs 5 crores, Manchi Rojulochaie is proving to be a clever experiment for everyone involved. The film opened to rather weak reviews but it managed to post reasonably good numbers over the weekend, which has served its box office prospects very well. This way, Maruthi managed to add another convincing hit to his tally. Also, this is the first theatrical hit for Santosh Shobhan who has been occupied with Telugu OTT assignments all the while.  The makers of the project, UV Creations and GA2 Pictures are happy as well. They could taste box office success with a well-executed low budget project that ended up paying them rich dividends.
