Nani kept scoring back-to-back hits from 'Yevadu Subrahmanyam' till 'Ninnu Kori'. On the other hand, Dil Raju is determined to score double hat-trick this year. Venu Sriram of 'Oh My Friend' fame convinced both Nani & Dil Raju with the script of 'MCA'. Does 'Middle Class Abbayi' continue their winning streak? Let's see...
Synopsis:
Nani (Nani), a middle class youth, who remained jobless after completion of studies. His Brother (Rajeev Kanakala) is everything to him as he was the one who took care of his upbringing after the death of Parents. The life of Nani changes after the marriage of his Brother and he starts hating Sister-in-Law Jyothi (Bhumika) assuming she brought a gap between them. Nani was asked by his brother to stay with his Sister-in-Law, a government employee, in Warangal. When Jyothi faces a serious problem with a criminal (Naresh Vijay), Nani takes the matter into his control for saving his family. What a Middle Class Guy does in such a situation forms rest of the tale!
Performances:
Nani plays the role of a middle class youth effortlessly. Audience could connect with his role from the very first scene itself. That's how well he got into the skin of the character. He is simply superb in comedy, romantic and emotional scenes.
After Nani, Bhumika is the one who deserves special mention. Matured performance delivered by her makes the role hit the right chord with the audience.
There are a lot of expectations on Sai Pallavi after 'Fidaa'. She, however, disappoints and even the role doesn't off much scope to leave a mark of her own. Even the styling wasn't appreciable. Whereas, She impresses with her dance moves.
Vijay Varma as Antagonist looks menacing and performs well but his role wasn't etched so effectively. Priyadarsi tickles the funny bone. Rajeev Kanakala, Naresh, Aamani, Subhalekha Sudhakar and Pavithra Lokesh doesn't have much to do.
Pros:
Nani
Comedy
First Half
Cons:
Music
Screenplay
Second half
Technicalities:
Music composed by Devi Sri Prasad is disappointing. None of the songs get registered, that's something we don't expect for a Rockstar Musician. Even the Background Score is just ordinary. Camera Work by Sameer Reddy is okay. Production Values aren't up to the standards of Sri Venkateswara Creations. Dialogues are alright. The story chosen by Venu Sriram is tad too routine. Even Screenplay appears nothing special. In the First Half, He succeeded in generating humour based on Hero's characterization & middle class set-up. Whereas, Second Half is a complete let down.
Analysis:
Nani got the calibre of delivering hits if there is a bit of stuff in the story & screenplay. Even 'MCA' gives a positive impression to the viewers by the end of First Half. Nani has done a superb job in the tailor-made role & it's very entertaining as long as the story revolves around his character. However, The film lost the track after reaching the actual conflict point.
Lack of novelty & twists n turns makes the Second Half of 'MCA' flat. Though Nani tried his best to build the momentum at times, That didn't help the cause. The friction between Hero & his Sister-in-Law, love track of Hero-Heroine are worth watching. Nani's transformation into a servant after the entry of his Sister-in-Law is hilarious. Though the romantic track looks a bit artificial, It did entertain the viewers.
Although the Interval Bang which reminds us of 'Race Gurram' is nice, Cat n Mouse Game between Hero & Villain isn't exciting at all. Even the concept of dreaded gangster failing to cause any harm to Hero's Sister-in-Law looks artificial. The villain's gang play the waiting game till the climax to attack.
Audience could predict what's gonna happen next till the climax in 'MCA'. Even the sequence where Heroine & Sister-in-Law misunderstand Hero looked forced. Lack of entertainment in Second Half is another drawback. Makers tried something differently with Villain's role but it appears unconvincing. In the Climax, Nani does his best to save the movie with superb performance but the content is too weak. Overall, There is nothing special about 'MCA' except for the entertaining First Half.
Bottom Line: Middle Class Abbayi...Middle Drop!
