Update: 2021-05-16 11:55 GMT
When the first wave of Covid hit us, the theatres were shut and the filmmakers were forced to opt for OTT release with no other option left. Clearing all the airs on whether the audiences are ready to watch the films in theatres, the Sankranthi season this year made business in big numbers.

Despite 50 percent occupancy and other restrictions, the films have managed to bring some profits, and Mass Maharaja Raviteja and Power Star Pawan Kalyan recorded career-best collections with 50 percent theatre occupancy.

The Pongal season gave a ray of hope for Tollywood that the audience will watch films in theatres. With this, crazy projects are not going the OTT way and waiting for things to get under control.

Naga Chaitanya- Sai Pallavi's upcoming film Love Story helmed by Sekhar Kammula has created a positive buzz among the audience, was approached for OTT release, but the makers reportedly denied the offer.

Now all the eyes are on upcoming medium range films like Love Story, Sai Dharam Tej's Republic, and Naga Shourya's Varudu Kavali and Lakshya. While the makers want to go for theatrical release, the OTT platforms are not leaving any stone unturned to see that the crazy films are streamed on their platforms.

On the other hand, the industry is very confident that things get under control by late July or August so that the films can have a theatrical release. Let us wait and see how the situation will be in July or August.
