Mahabharata is one story that has inspired many filmmakers in the past and with Baahubali proving to be a major success and showing Indian market and films have the potentiality to score more than 1000 crores at box office and Dangal too scored more than 1000 crores in China box office. With such huge hits producers started believing that a well made huge epic drama film can work with huge budgets too.
Right from Dasari Narayana Rao, SS Rajamouli and many directors have expressed their wish to make Mahabharata on their own. While Dasari could not realize his dream. Rajamouli said he needs 8 to 10 years to make the movies. Even Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan expressed their interest in the story of Mahabharata. SRK gone a step ahead and said he wants to produce it with some Hollywood studio. Well, before all of them, Srikumar Menon announced a film in his direction with a budget of 1000 crores with Mohan Lal as the main lead.
