The Multiplex Association has appealed to the Central Government to grant permission to reopen the theatres. Lakhs of people have lost their jobs and fallen on the road in the last six months. The multiplex association said in a letter that it had lost nearly Rs 9,000 crore during the pandemic and it launched a special campaign called 'Unlock Cinemas and Save Jobs'.
The Multiplex Association reminded that as part of Unlock 4, malls, airports, railway stations, restaurants and gyms are reopened and cinemas have remained closed. The association urged the government saying that they will take care of crowd management, hygiene, sanitation. It stated that theatres are open in 12 countries, including China, Korea, Britain and France.
