Biopics have become a regular phenomenon in the film industry. They used to be special till a couple of years back as filmmakers used to do a lot of research on a legendary personality but a lot of biopics have lacked quality lately. But there is one upcoming biopic that has been in public discussion ever since it was announced. It is Sri Lankan bowler Muralidharan's '800'. He was a maestro on the pitch but his backdrop and identity are surrounded by a lot of controversies. A lot of Tamilians are not happy with him due to many reasons.

Vijay Sethupathi was selected to play the lead role and the first look posters got a highly positive response. Sethupathi's makeup worked perfectly and he looked very similar to the legendary spin bowler. MS Sripathi is directing this interesting biopic. But people who are angry with Muttiah's anti-Tamil stand protested against making this film.

He issued threats to Vijay Sethupathi and his family. They bashed him in front of media and due to all this, the 'Nawab' actor stepped out of the project. But the director is in no mood to leave this biopic. He is reportedly going ahead with another actor and it is none other than Dev Patel. The 'Slumdog Millionaire' actor is well-known actor in India as well as the foreign market. He did many Hollywood projects like 'Modern Love', 'The Man Who Knew Infinity', 'Wedding Guest' and many others. Since Dev is a Gujarati, he may not look at as a problem but it is to be seen how the protestors respond to this biopic getting restarted again.
