Nani was at his candid best while speaking at the pre-release event of Thimmarasu yesterday. He delivered an emotional and hard-hitting speech while spoke at length about the restrictions on cinema theaters.
"Cinema halls are the first to shut down and the last to resume operations when there is a Covid outbreak. But I feel cinema halls are safer than restaurants and bars, where people don't wear masks and interact socially. I am not saying cinema halls shouldn't be shut down in the view of Covid. But I feel theaters should be permitted to operate in correspondence with other outlets like hotels and restaurants," he said.
Nani went on to say that it is in the bloodstream of Telugu people to watch films on the big screens and he adds that cinema culture is a birthright to native audiences. "After our homes, cinema halls are the place where we spend the most of our time at. This culture shouldn't be taken away from now us now. If they do so, then our future generations will miss out on the glorious experience of watching films on the big screens while seated alongside hundreds of people.
"The prices of essential products like petrol, diesel, and others are climbing up at an alarming rate. When there is so much going on, putting up restrictions on ticket pricing is not the right thing do. Lakhs of people are directly and indirectly dependent on cinema theaters. This includes, exhibitors, distributors, theater managements, the staff that work at cinema halls, the small-time vendors who work in theater premises. This isn't just the issue of heroes and producers in the industry. I feel the governments should act accordingly and let the industry flourish rather than trying to suppress it." Nani said.
Nani went on to wish the team of Thimmarasu all the very best ahead of the release of their film. "I hope our audience start coming to theaters with Thimmarasu and then also encourage, Tuck Jagadish, Love Story, Radhe Shyam, RRR, Acharya and other films as well. He urged everyone to put in their best efforts to ensure that the theater industry is back to full glory sooner than later.
