Comment: Sharing is Caring, but......

In English there is a popular saying, Sharing is Caring! Well, when you share too much it backlashes and also when you share a similar interest then it will be hard to divide between a cluster. In cinemas too, that applies very well. Even though Producers and actors say, we share the revenues and theatres, in the end they end up suffering minimum to maximum losses when they come in a cluster.

Last Friday, on 11th of August, three producers decided to release their movies, Jaya Janaki Nayaka, LIE and Nene Raju Nene Mantri on the same day. Three movies did manage to get a decent word of mouth but none of them have been able to take clear cut advantage over the others. They all tried to cash in on the long Independence Day, weekend but with theatres shared and the movies having limited appeal, the producers might end up facing losses.

Jaya Janaki Nayaka, directed by Boyapati Srinu is liked by masses but it is facing tough fight from Rana Daggubati's Nene Raju Nene Mantri. While , Nene Raju Nene Mantri is an experiment in the commercial it is unable to overcome the competition from LIE, which is not a regular masala film. A centres have been showing much preference to LIE, while B.C. centres are divided over the choice between Nene Raju Nene Mantri and Jaya Janaki Nayaka.

LIE, which does not have a routine story and is made in a stylish way, could have worked big time at the box office had the movie had a solo release. Now, with over 35 to 40 crores at stake and a divided talk, the producers are tensed up about the movie achieving break even status. Similar kind of problem is faced by Nene Raju Nene Mantri producers too. They have released in huge number of theatres and promoted it like no one and due to that, the cost went upto 25 crores. The collections would have been great had they had a solo release. Well, when it comes Jaya Janaki Nayaka, producers have spent more than 35 crores on the film and with talk not being universal, they would be looking at losses too.

Even though at the moment, Rana seems to be leading with his movie, still the movies coming in a cluster has ensured that even his movie won't be achieving the breakeven status easily. Had the movies released on separate days or with a week gap, they would have had a decent chance to recover their costs. Many are commenting that even the bigwigs of the Industry like Suresh Babu and Dil Raju would have understood how times have changed and it is not feasible to release three movies on a day.

Now, when it comes to Overseas, audience prefer to watch the movie that releases in the nearby theatres and they choose mostly one film per week. They have many problems like distance from the home to the theatre, availability of shows and many more. Hence, they prefer only one movie a week, and with three movies releasing on the same day, the audience have gotten divided and none of the movies have been able to take clear advantage. Well, Sharing is Caring, but you do need to know what to share and when to also. What do you say, on this?
