BO Report: Recovery Similar - Fate Different!

Independence Day clash has been a big lesson for Tollywood Personalities. Yet again it's been proven that release of two or more films on the same day is going to prove costly.

Collections of 'Nene Raju Nene Mantri' (Share - Rs 22 crore) and 'Jaya Janaki Nayaka' (Share - 22 crore) are almost similar by the end of 10 Days run. However, 'NRNM' emerged as Super Hit and 'JJN' ended as a Flop. Can anybody explain why it is so?

Budget of 'Nene Raju Nene Mantri' is just Rs 11 crore and it's theatrical business is up to Rs 19 crore. Whereas, 'Jaya Janaka Nayaka' was made on a high budget and it's theatrical business in up to Rs 34 crore. Despite clash with two other films, 'NRNM' became success because of keeping the budget under control. Whereas, 'JJN' stood as cost failure despite positive reviews and decent word-of-mouth due to lack of control on the budget.

On the other hand, 'LIE' was declared as a disastrous flick on Day 1 itself. This Nithin-starrer didn't even compete with two other films at any point.
