NTR obtained Rs 1.10 crore Tax Exemption: CAG

CAG Report revealed how Film Celebrities who were shooting abroad have been claiming tax exemption. In the report tabled in Parliament, Ranbir Kapoor's 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' and NTR's 'Nannaku Prematho' have been cited as an example.

CAG mentioned, These two films were shot in India & Abroad. However, Payment to the Actors for portions shot abroad was made through foreign firms and it's been projected as export of services to ensure there is no tax liability.

NTR obtained a remuneration of Rs 7.33 crore for acting in 'Nannaku Prematho'. He claimed exemption of Service Tax to the tune of Rs 1.10 crore citing export of services.

A show cause-cum-demand notice was served to NTR for obtaining tax exemption in such manner. Even a direction was given by concerned Ministry to officials to find out if there are any more such instances.
