It is known that Tollywood ace producer Dil Raju has got the Telugu remake rights of Tamil super hit film '96'. Ever since he got the rights, the producer has been trying to rope in the lead cast for this remake.

From the past few days, rumors are popping out that Sharwanand and Samantha are going to play the leads in this film and revealing the same the makers have officially announced the project. Samantha is going to romance Sharwanand in the remake of '96'. Regular shooting of the film will go on sets from March and Dil Raju is going to produce this film. Premkumar who is the director of the original version is also going to helm the remake version as well.
96 is a period love story set in the 1990s but as per the latest reports the Telugu version of the film will be set in 2009 backdrop and the director is also going to make changes in the script to match the Telugu nativity. So, both Sharwa and Samantha will play young roles only.
