'Khushi' is a classic love story that is already termed an iconic love story by many. This beautiful love story starring Pawan Kalyan and Bhumika Chawla was released in 2001. Directed by SJ Surya, this movie still remains in the hearts of many. It has been more than 20 years since its release but Pawan Kalyan's fans got hurt when it was announced that Vijay Deverakonda's upcoming project with Shiva Nirvana has been named 'Khushi' as well. Though it is not a remake, many feel that it spoils the feel you get whenever you hear the name 'Khushi'.
A fan of Pawan took to Twitter and wrote, "Khushi is a Pawan Kalyan's classic. The producer should have held on to the classic title instead of letting someone else use it. Kushi mean Pawan Kalyan and Pawan Kalyan means Kushi. Now, Vijay Deverakonda has taken it." A lot of PK fans came in support of this statement.
But it is common for present filmmakers to take the titles of old films. Pawan's 'Tholi Prema' title was used by his own family's hero Varun Tej a few years. Pointing this out, a fan of Vijay Devarakonda said, "When Varun Tej used Tholiprema title no one had any objection. Now that Vijay has used Kushi title, people are calling him out. Why do people have so much intolerance towards Vijay? Is it because he is an 'outsider' making it big in the Telugu industry?"
Another netizen commented, "In reality, Pawan Kalyan's Kushi itself is a remake of Tamil film with the same title. Moreover, there's no such complication with reusing titles. It's been done many a time in the past."
Another fan went ahead and made fun of Pawan's continuous remakes in recent times by stating, "Pawan Kalyan fans are doing overaction about the title. If needed we will give Kushi remake right to Pawan Kalyan free of cost. He can later remake it again."
