The Telugu film industry which prospered well till a month ago is now looking absolutely dull with no releases and zero shootings. The second wave of the Coronavirus disrupted everything and many filmmakers are not knowing what to do now. As there is uncertainty all over, the interests keep piling up on the producers.
So, many small films are heading towards OTT platforms and even medium budget films are going the digital way these days. But the streaming services are not keen on buying whatever comes their way this time. During the lockdown period, they bought films like 'V' and 'Nishabdham' for heavy rates but they did not impress the audience leaving the OTT platforms at losses.
So, they are being too careful now and quoting very low prices for small and medium films. As of now, only 'Thank You Brother' starring Anasuya is releasing on 'Aha' soon but other films are still in the discussion stage with various online streaming services. On the other hand, big films are not at all concerned as the makers believe that people will walk back into theatres after the theatres got reopened. Let us wait and see what happens.
