'Sye Raa' Brings Fear In The Hearts Of Overseas Buyers!

Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy was the first freedom fighter in India who brought fear in the hearts of Britishers. But 'Sye Raa', the film made on him is bringing fear in the hearts of overseas distributors.

The news of 'Sye Raa' crossing 2.2 million on its first weekend in the US market may sound fantastic. But, the film was sold for 3.3 million and after the weekend, the collections fell off the wagon pretty quickly. People there are wondering if it even reaches 2.5 million mark or not. When 'Saaho' ended up in losses people blamed the bad reviews. But 'Sye Raa' failed to get profits even with favorable reviews. This clearly indicates that the market for Telugu films is gradually reducing in the overseas arena. With every film coming on to digital platform within few weeks, people in US are not willing to go to theaters and watch the film at such high prizes.

This is making bringing shivers down the spines of distributors who bought the rights of Mahesh's 'Sarileru Neekevvaru' and Allu Arjun's 'Ala Vaikunthapuramlo'. The latter's films off late like 'Sarrainodu', 'DJ' and 'Naa Peru Surya' failed badly at the US box-office. But Trivikram's brand made the buyers to invest heavily on its rights. As overseas markets are always considered as Mahesh Babu's forte, they bought the rights of 'Sarileru Neekevvaru' for record rates. All these dealings were done before 'Sye Raa' and now the US distributors are worrying what happens now if these two Sankranti releases fail to get positive talk. Both these film combinedly have to earn over 5 million and if not, the buyers are surely going to loose loads of money. With everything at stake, the overseas buyers are having sleepless nights.
