Tamil Nadu people are treating PETA similar to a terrorist organization as they the animal rights advocasy group opposed Jallikattu. Tamil Star Suriya recently made some remarks supporting Jallikattu.. PETA gave a counter statement to him saying that Suriya is utilizing Jallikattu for his movie publicity. With the PETA counter it has turned into a controversy.
Suriya did not leave the matter at that..he served notices to PETA demanding an apology. PETA received the legal notices and offered a an apology letter to Suriya. PETA CEO Joshipura said that they are apologizing him wholeheartedly. But surprisingly their apology letter consists of several satirical remarks on Suriya.. "If your comments supporting Jallikattu... and your movie which is ready for release has no connection as you said.. then we are apologizing you wholeheartedly."
"You support small kids through the Agaram Foundation. We felt that animals should also be supported in a similar manner. We could not believe that you supported Jallikattu which leads to the death of animials. You must have remembered a 14 year old kid killed in Dindigul. We support good film promotions but we oppose films which show cruelty towards animals. We thought that you are also on the same page with us."
"Please watch these videos which show the facts of cruelty that happens in Jallikattu events. These videos are made by Animal Welfare Board of India. You are playing the role of a sincere police offier in Singam. Kindly think of the measures you take against these according the Prevention of Cruelty to animals act 1960". Going by the PETA's version it is evident that it has offered a satirical apology.
