It has been almost a decade since the films Khaleja and Komarum Puli have hit the screens. Both the films released amidst huge expectations but ended up as disasters. Both the films are produced by Singanamala Ramesh Babu and C. Kalyan acted as the executive producer.
Now, they are in the news regarding a case filed on both the films. Popular video distributing firms, Shalimar Home Entertainment and Universal Home Entertainment, filed a case on producers in 2011, alleging that both the producers threatened them with the help of a don named Bhanu Kiran, in the financial dispute of VCD and DVD rights of Puli and Khaleja.
The producers defended themselves by saying that they didn't sell the rights as Shalimar and Universal failed to pay the full proposed amount of 52.50 lakhs for each movie. They further added that two cheques of Rs. 22.25 lakhs were given initially and Rs.12.50 lakh were given in cash twice during the next instalment.
On the flip side, Shalimar and Universal said that both Ramesh Babu and C. Kalyan threatened them with the help of Bhanu Kiran and also warned them to have dreadful sequences if they meet him again. After many investigations, the court has given a clean chit to Ramesh Babu, C. Kalyan and Bhanu Kiran, for the lack of proper evidence.
