Similarities between two makers that too, between a protege and his Guru, are nothing new in any industry. But in Film Industry, that means either the protege is developing well or degrading further. Once upon a time, when Ram Gopal Verma used to be in form with Sathya, Rangeela, Antham, Anaganaga Oka Roju, Sarkar, Shiva, any director coming from his factory used to have some respect and were highly regarded.
But these days, even his real protégés are not that willing to take his name except for those who are already established like Krishna Vamsi and Puri Jagannath. While Krishna Vamsi already lost his touch, Puri Jagannath seems to have taken an oath to completely transform himself into Ram Gopal Verma, that too the man who made AAG, Department, Ice Cream series and other recent films.
Puri Jagannath, who made films like Badri, Idiot and Pokiri seems to have taken a no return ticket to the place where Ram Gopal Verma made his permanent residence. Both the makers have started their careers creating sensations one after the other and proving themselves as the creative filmmakers. And now both of them are making B-grade films that even embarrass them to watch after a time. Well, as fans of these two makers we can only wish them to see some light at the end of their dark tunnels and stop taking up proposals. Hope they can make one good film before they sign off from industry.
