Radhe Shyam will decide market strength of Prabhas!

Update: 2022-03-06 09:56 GMT
Radhe Shyam is releasing on 11th March, 2022. Prabhas and Pooja Hegde are cast in lead roles in this romance, written and directed by Radhakrishna.

Satyaraj will play an important role in the movie in other languages, that will be played by Krishnam Raju in Telugu version. It is said that the senior actors have been cast as narrators.

There could be voice over of SS Rajamouli as well. Radhakrishna is directing this film and he is back after Jill, that released 7 years ago. Makers spent a total of Rs. 300 crores budget on the film.

Prabhas asked the journalists to not reveal the story of the film before release that is not revealed in the trailers and we would like to respect his request. Movie got U/A certificate and has elements that involve palmistry and astrology.

Prabhas is playing the role of a palmist, who fights against Nature and destiny for his love. This is all about the film's story and screenplay. We can discuss about them at length post release.

Let's look at the prospects of the movie at the box office. Prabhas became huge Pan India movie star with Baahubali franchise. Baahubali 2 is the only film to have collected Rs. 1500 crores at Indian Box Office. It created All Time Collection records in each and every state in India.

Such a huge hit, will definitely create market or at least interest in audiences about the next films of the lead. Baahubali has been such popular character that young people in India use the name to describe heroic acts.

So, Prabhas will be recognised as Baahubali for life, by Indians who watched the film. Even in media, he will be referred and revered as Baahubali of Indian Cinema.

After such a huge success, Prabhas did not try to make as many films as he can. He decided to take things slow. Hence, he came up with only two films in five years.

Radhe Shyam got delayed due to pandemic but Saaho took good two years to complete as well. Saaho had huge shoes to fill in and it failed to do so.

Still, the movie established one fact that Prabhas is here to stay as Pan India star. The movie collected more than Rs. 150 crores Nett in Hindi markets and close to Baahubali 1 figures in Telugu states.

Created records in Karnataka on first day and in Tamil Nadu, Kerala states had decent first weekends, close to big stars of respective film industries.

Had the film offered much better story and screenplay, it would have consolidated the box office status of Prabhas. Shah Rukh Khan after a blockbuster success like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge did few films that did not live up to the hype.

But he consolidated the market with Dil To Pagal Hai, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai kind of classics. When he faced competition with Hrithik Roshan's Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, he came back seven back to back successful films between 2000 - 2005. From 2006 - 2009, his films have been recognised as event releases and that continues even today.

Diwali in Bollywood cinema is known as Shah Rukh Khan's movie release day or weekend. On the other hand, Hrithik Roshan lost the market that his debut film, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai created.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham is the only hit for him in more than 15 films that released after his debut film. But the success credit went to maker Karan Johar and leads Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan more than him. Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kajol also have iconic scenes but Hrithik Roshan's individual contribution in the film is lesser than others. Still, he got huge name as a performer for holding his fort against such seasoned campaigners.

Koi Mil Gaya became his next big hit as a solo lead and Krrish franchise launched with him as lead. With Jodha Akbar and Dhoom 2 becoming big successes, Krrish becoming a blockbuster, the actor has reached pinnacle of his popularity or stardom.

But his inconsistency at box office did not lead his films to become event releases. Today, he is one of the big stars of Indian Cinema with Pan India appeal but not Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan level star. He could have been one.

Similarly, Prabhas seems to be going down Hrithik Roshan's career path with the time he has been taking between projects. Now, he had decided against it and finished 60% of Salaar and complete shooting of Adipuprush. Both should release in 2023.

His biggest film, Project K is currently under Production. He accepted another film in Maruthi Direction and it is also planned for 2023 release. For each film, Prabhas got close Rs. 100 crores as remuneration, say reports .

Saaho took Rs. 100 crores opening all over India and hence producers are happy to offer that minimum collection that Prabhas brings to a film on first day or first weekend to him as remuneration. Radhe Shyam success and failure will decide if his big budget films like Salaar, Adipuprush, Project K will recover their budgets prior to release or not.

Project K is being produced with Rs. 400 crores budget and Adipurush VFX will cost Rs. 120 crores to producers. Salaar is being said to be costing Rs. 150 crores to producers.

If Radhe Shyam takes Rs. 150 crores Nett or gross opening during the first weekend despite being a pure romance like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and not an action entertainer like Saaho, then we can say that Prabhas market strength is minimum Rs. 150 crores for sure. Let's see if that would be the case on 11th March.
