Radhika Apte opens up about pay inequality in the movie industry. She says that things change only if the audience starts accepting. Radhika Apte claimed that the pay she gets is considerably less than her three male friends who are in the same field.
In the recent interview, Radhika said "There is a lot of discrimination regarding pay in the industry. I am friends with almost every one of my co-actors, and I know what their wages are like. My three male friends who also do the same job as me gets higher pay than me. We have so many superstar actors but only a few actress who reached that status."
"It is not entirely because of the industry; it is in the society too. If films of Deepika Padukone or Priyanka Chopra start working like Salman's movie, they will become female superstars too. But people are not ready to accept a woman as a superstar. " says the "Phobia" actress.
Radhika is also glad that some filmmakers are including more parts for the female artists. But she said that there is still a long way to go. Apte's last onscreen appearance was with Rajinikanth starrer Kabali in 2016. She says that it is necessary for the artists to take a short break from their demanding schedule and she wants to relax by traveling and meeting new people. Radhika states that taking a break helps her evolving as a person.
