With the popularity it gained, many expected Rajamouli's magnum opus to become India's official entry to the Oscars 2023 but the jury selected a Gujarati film named 'Chhello Show' or The Last Film Show'.
When asked about it, Rajamouli recently said, "Yeah, it is disappointing. But we are not the kind of people who would sit and brood on why it didn't happen. What has happened has happened, and we should go forward with it. But I am happy because it (Chhello Show/ The Last Film Show) is also an Indian film and it has also been shortlisted for Oscars. I'm quite happy for it. Of course, everyone knew RRR had a much bigger chance. Here (in the US) everyone felt RRR had a bigger chance. But I don't know how the committee (Film Federation of India), what are guidelines for the committee⦠I don't know that and I can't comment on thatâ¦"
'Chhello Show' is directed by Pan Nilan and it bagged a lot of awards internationally. 'Last Film Show' has Bhavesh Shrimali, Bhavin Rabari, Dipen Raval, Richa Meena and others playing the lead roles. Music is composed by Cyril Morin and the winners will be grandly announced at Ovation Hollywood's Dolby Theatre on March 12th, 2023.
On the other hand, RRR' is produced by DVV Danayya on a budget of over 400 crores. The lead actors delivered spectacular performances and MM Keeravani is the music composer who is one of the main pillars in the film's success. Alia Bhatt is playing the role of Sita in this film while Ajay Devgn appears in a brief role. Olivia Morris is also a part of the film and she looked very cute.
Apart from a few noted Hollywood actors, 'RRR' has actors like Shriya Saran, Rajeev Kanakala, Samuthirakani and others did key roles. NTR will be seen as Komaram Bheem while Ram Charan plays the role of Alluri Seetha Ramaraju in this massive film which is set in the backdrop of the pre-Independence era. Senthil Kumar is the director of photography while Sabu Cyril is the production designer.
