Rajamouli receives a shock from Bollywood

Update: 2021-10-01 03:01 GMT
RRR is the biggest project in the making in Indian cinema. It is the costliest project in the history of Indian cinema and the stakes are high on the Jr NTR and Ram Charan starrer. It is being mounted on a lavish scale and the unit recently wrapped up the shoot for the big budget action drama. The post production is in full swing and the release date announcement is not too far from now.

Coming to the topic, Rajamouli hoped that Bollywood would wait for an official announcement on RRR's release date before announcing the release plans of mainstream Hindi biggies. However, that isn't the case anymore. A host of Bollywood biggies have already locked the release dates. Gangubai Khatiawadi, 83, Jersey, and others have locked late December and early January release slots. Also, Bollywood has lined up a a biggie almost every weekend in the early half of 2022. RRR most certainly won't enjoy a free run at the box office in the Northern circuit.

Rajamouli who was patiently planning the optimal release date for RRR has been taken aback by Bollywood's rush in announcing release dates. Over 10 Bollywood biggies have locked the release dates in the last few days after the government of Maharashtra announced that theatres in the state can be reopened from the 22nd of October. With the pan-India market opening up, Bollywood was in in a frenzy mode while announcing the release dates and Rajamouli, who took things lightly has been dealt with a shock now.

Several reports are claiming that RRR unit will be announcing the final release date today, 1st October. But nothing is for certain for now. The onus is on the makers to announce the release date at the earliest in order to prevent further damage. Needless to say, RRR will get off to sensational start at the box office no matter when it releases. No other Indian film is even remotely close to RRR in terms of vision, scale, and execution. Rajamouli is said to have created a visual marvel that mainly banks on action, emotions and drama.
