It is known that there were reports in the media that '2.O' Hindi version theatrical rights are sold for a whopping Rs. 80 crore. It's a huge deal for a South Indian film.. so there is lot of hungama going on in the media that Shankar - Rajini movie has created sensation.  Surprisingly there are several interesting discussions are going on in the social media regarding the deal and some netizens are opining it is not a wise deal.

'Baahubali 2' Hindi version has collected around Rs. 250 crore share in India alone.  It has proved that South Indian films can strike big at North Box Office if they have strong content.   In such a scenario, 80 crore for '2.O' theatrical rights is comparatively small figure.  There are several reasons for this.  Rajinikanth is a popular hero in Hindi even though he doesn't command big market like South.  'Robot' Hindi version has collected around 18 crore share in 2010 which is a decent figure five years ago, for a South film  by any standard.  After the huge success of Baahubali 1 & 2 the market has increased for South films.

Akshay Kumar is a big star in Bollywood and he is playing villain role in '2.O'.  Akshay has four 100 crore films in the last one and half year.   Akshay Kumar can alone command  80 crore market in Hindi.  The figure should be much higher when he collaborates with another Super Star like Rajini.  Even a star technician like AR Rahman is on board for '2.O', which is another advantage.

Some netizens are opining that '2.O' makers are not confident enough that it could beat 'Baahubali 2'.. otherwise they could have gone for own release or a higher deal for Hindi version theatrical rights.
