Ram Gopal Verma, the director is in the Industry from last 30 to 35 years. He has seen many directors and actors in his experience and he revealed a fascinating story about casting couch in Telugu Cinema Industry in a recent interview.
He said, "I know an actress, who came to talk to me about a role. She told me that a producer I know, asked her for 'commitment.'
"I did not believe her as I know him. She called him in front of me, on a speaker phone and asked him, "Sir, what did you mean by compromise, yesterday."
"He repiled, "You know everything." He acted as if she did not know and asked him, will my role be short? He said, no. She asked, "Will I be paid less?" He said, "You will get decent amount."
"Then she asked, "Then, what do you mean by compromise, sir?" He said, "You know everything, you have to spend some time.
"She asked, "Should I spend with you? Or with Director and Actor also?" The producer started abusing the director and actor over the phone and told her, it is fine if she spends time with him. I know the project, I know the producer and director & actor. I was listening to him and this actress told him that she will reply to him the next day evening," concluded the story Ram Gopal Verma.
He did not say who are the producer and actress but said that is how casting couch has been a part and parcel of our Telugu Cinema Industry. He asked women to how to escape and become big in the Industry rather than taking things emotionally and suffering mentally, due to them.
