Why Tollywood Bigwigs avoided Kabali gamble?

Update: 2016-07-17 05:12 GMT
Rajinikanth is undoubtedly the one Tamil actor with a huge market in Telugu States. But, None of two films (Vikramasimha & Lingaa) done by film after recovering from illness were successful. Particularly, Telugu Distributors and Buyers incurred huge losses because of these projects and they were yet to be compensated.

This is the reason why none of the leading production houses dared to  shell out huge sum for 'Kabali' Telugu theatrical rights. New Players entered the scene to acquire the rights by paying Rs 32 crore which is the highest for any Tamil dubbed flick.

Even the deadly combination of Rajini-Shankar didn't fetch good returns to the investors always. Although 'Robot' earned profits, 'Shivaji' is below par in many of the territories in Telugu States. So, One should be very careful as its always going to be a big gamble.

Sources say, Distributors have acquired 'Kabali' rights for close to Rs 40 crore. But, There is no one to confirm or deny this report. This Rajini-starrer has to collect more than 'Robot' for break even if this is true by any chance.
