RGV mocks AP govt. over ticket prices issue

Controversial filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has been taking a proactive stand against the Andhra Pradesh government's decision to restrict cinema ticket prices. He has been calling out the state government for trying ti impose curbs on the otherwise flexible pricing system.

Today, Varma took part in an interview with a Telugu TV channel and he spoke at length about the ticket prices issue in his own style.

"The government has no right to cap ticket prices. Producers are the manufacturers and audience are the consumers. How can the government get involved with this? The government doesn't produce the film or is associated with it in any which way. Then how can they cap the cinema ticket prices?" Varma said.

Varma added that "The government says cinema ticket prices should be accessible to the poorer sections and that is the reason why tickets should be sold for Rs 5 and Rs 10. In that case, I too have a dream to buy an airplane for Rs 5 and I am poor. Why don't they sell me a flight for Rs 5? If the government wants to restrict ticket prices, then why don't they themselves make films and screen them with low ticket prices?" Varma stated.

Varma made a few very logical points as he mocked the government of Andhra Pradesh over its stance on the cinema ticket pricing issue.
