Bollywood superstar Salman Khan came in support of 28 percent tax slab on Cinema under Goods & Services Tax introduced by Centre. He opined Union Government might have fixed the tax slab with proper planning.
Salman Khan's comment willn't go down well with Producer's Guild & Regional Film Industries. Producer's Guild President Siddharth Roy Kapur opposed highest Tax slab on Cinema.
Kamal Hassan has gone to the extent of threatening to quit films if tax on cinema is up to 28 percent. He questioned, 'Should I work for the Government?' apart from appealing the Centre to bring it down to 12-15%.
However, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley made it clear there won't be any correction regarding tax slab on cinema. Which means, Indian Film Industry need to be prepared for paying high tax from July 1st. Bollywood gets benefitted by GST but not Regional Film Industries such as Tollywood & Kollywood.
