Gunasekhar's upcoming movie 'Shakuntalam' has been in the news for a long time now. After taking a long gap post 'Rudramadevi', the talented director has put his total focus on this mythology film.
Based on the love story of Dushyanta and Shakuntala, daughter of sage Vishwamitra and apsara Menaka, from the Athaparva of the epic tale Mahabharata, the film tells about the love affair, secret marriage, separation of imprecation and reunion of the immortal love of Dushyanta and Shakuntala.
Earlier, it was heard that Pooja Hegde will be the female lead in the film. But now, the makers of the film revealed that South star Samantha Akkineni will be essaying the role of Shakuntala. On New Year, Gunaa Team Works, the film's production house took to Twitter to welcome the Rangasthalam actress on board. The big-budget film is expected to go on floors later this year.
Besides this, Samantha has two more films in her kitty. She will be seen in a film in Ashwin Saravanan's direction. She also has Kollywood film Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal directed by Vignesh Shivan.Full View
