The Central Crime Branch (CCB) which has been probing into the drug abuse in Sandalwood, Kannada Film Industry, has a made a major breakthrough and arrested the accused number six.
According to the information, Bengaluru crime branch sleuths nabbed Aditya Alva in Chennai on Monday night and brought him to Bengaluru.
Aditya Alva is the son of late Janata Party leader Jeevaraj Alva. He is also the brother-in-law of noted Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi. He has been absconding for several months.
The Bengaluru crime branch sleuths got a tip-off on the whereabouts of Aditya Alva, who is accused number six in the Sandalwood drugs case. The officials raised a resort in Chennai and nabbed him.
Aditya Alva has been facing allegations of supplying banned and narcotic drugs during parties he has held in his farmhouse located at the Bengaluru outskirts.
Drug abuse in the Kannada Film Industry was first exposed last year when the Narcotics Control Bureau sleuths arrested three people from Bengaluru.
During the investigation, the arrested trio opened up before the NCB sleuths on the links they have with the actors and singers from the Kannada film industry and how they supplied drugs to them.
Following this, the CCB has booked 17 people in connection with drug abuse and supply. Aditya Alva, one of the 17 accused has been absconding since then.
As part of the probe, noted faces from the Sandalwood industry Ragini Dwivedi and Sanjjanaa Galrani have been arrested. While Sanjjanaa Galrani was released on conditional bail, Ragini Dwivedi has been trying to get bail from the court.
