Kollywood star hero Vijay's much-awaited movie 'Sarkar' is all set to hit the screens tomorrow on November 6th on the occasion of Diwali. AR Murugadoss helmed this project whereas Kalanidhi Maran under the production banner of Sun Pictures bankrolled this project.
The trade is surprised to see the pre-release business the movie is making. Just in Tamilnadu itself, with theatrical rights of the movie were sold for 81 crores. Combining all the other states in India, the movie rights were sold for 105.6 crores which is a record. In Karnataka, the movie was sold for 8 crores and 7.5 crores in the Telugu States. In the rest of India, the rights were valued 1 crore. Even the overseas business of 'Sarkar' is going exceptionally well. The movie made 11 crore in Southeast Asia, 5.5 crores in North America, 5 crores in UAE, 4.1 crores in Europe, 2 crores in Sri Lanka and the rest of the world is 2.4 crores. So, the total theatrical rights worldwide are sold for Rs. 135 crores which is the highest in Vijay's entire career. Including dubbing rights, satellite rights etc, 'Sarkar' made a business of Rs. 185 crores even before the release.
