Vijay stands only next to Rajinikanth when it comes to Fan Following in Tamil Nadu. AR Murugadoss had delivered big hits with Top Stars of Kollywood. When Vijay and Murugadoss team up for the third time, Expectations would be high for sure as both 'Thuppakki' and 'Kaththi' have been big hits. What is 'Sarkar' all about?

Synopsis:

Sundar Ramaswamy (Vijay) is a CEO of World's No.1 Corporate Company. He travels to India from US for exercising his right to vote in Tamil Nadu Elections. To his shock, Some other person would cast his vote by the time he reaches the Polling Booth. That is when he decides to fight legally against the bogus votes. Court delivers a verdict keeping the declaration of election results in the Constituency on hold until Vijay exercises his right to vote. Thereafter, Many people complain about bogus votes and the situation leads to fresh Elections. Ruling Party which isn't happy with it tries to hunt him. This is when Sundar decides to contest against the Chief Minister. He fields candidates in other constituencies as well. Whether Sundar achieved what he aimed for?

Performances:

Vijay enthralled his fans thoroughly with his style, screen presence, dances and fights. He excelled in the crucial sequence of the subject but made few scenes look awkward with his over-the-top performance.

Keerthy Suresh doesn't have much scope to perform. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar is no match to Vijay. She offers the same expression all the time. Radha Ravi does a fine job. Telugu Audience won't connect with the villainy of Pala Kuppaiah.

Pros:

Vijay

Cinematography

Background Score

Production Values

Cons:

Screenplay

Illogical Scenes

Tamil Politics

Technicalities:

Music composed by AR Rahman is just okay. None of the songs have a repeat value. Background Score elevates the crucial scenes to a whole new level. Cinematography by Girish Gangadharan is top notch. Sun Pictures produced 'Sarkar' in an uncompromising manner. The basic point chosen by AR Murugadoss looks interesting but lack of gripping screenplay & engaging episodes is a big concern. AR Murugadoss-mark which movie buffs loved the most goes missing.

Analysis:

First things first, 'Sarkar' isn't the kind of film Telugu Audience could connect because it's based on the Tamil Nadu Politics. This is an attempt by Vijay to improve his political image ahead of floating a party. Tamil Nativity will be high in such kind of projects. So, Telugu People might find someone like Vijay who is yet to attain craze here aspiring for CM Post a bit awkward.

AR Murugadoss is known for gripping screenplays in the films he directed before 'Spyder'. This time, He concentrated solely on the image of Vijay and how he could please his fans. Focus is more on the political mileage of Ilayathalapathy. This is why Telugu Audience won't be appreciating this political subject much.

Makers have taken too much Cinematic Liberty while handling 'Sarkar'. A Corporate King challenging Most Experienced Politicians with a political party and winning the elections is very cinematic. No attempts were made to make 'Sarkar' look realistic at least to some extent. Lack of strong emotional quotient and racy screenplay worked against the movie.

The episode of Hero fighting for his right to vote and motivating others to fight is convincing. Thereafter, Too many sequences in the movie appear to be illogical. All those who expected arresting performance from Keerthy Suresh after 'Mahanati' will be left disappointed. Action Blocks composed by Ram-Laxman look pleasing to watch. Background Score provided by AR Rahman is worth mentioning. Even these two elements can't save this movie at all. Overall, 'Sarkar' isn't the kind of movie Telugu Audience expect from Vijay-Murugadoss Combo.

Bottom Line: Only For Hardcore Vijay Fans!
