The month of August has proved to be fruitful for the Telugu Film Industry till date. Out of four big films, three of them managed to cross the breakeven mark within a week and turned out to be very profitable ventures. Nithiin's 'Macherla Niyojakavargam' was the only disappointment till date. Dulquer's 'Sita Ramam', Kalyan Ram's 'Bimbisara' and Nikhil's 'Karthikeya 2' are going strong at the box office and people are now shifting their focus towards the upcoming releases.
Interestingly, there are going to be seven releases this weekend but none of them managed to create a lot of buzz. The most notable film of the lot is Dhanush's 'Thiru' which is a light-hearted emotional drama. Nithya Menen and Raashi Khanna are the female leads while Prakash Raj and Bharati Raja play key roles. Dhanush plays the role of a delivery guy and the trailer makes it clear that it is a simple heartfelt story without a lot of commercial ingredients. This movie marks the return of the super hit Dhanush and Anirudh combination. Sadly, there are no promotions for this film which is arriving on 18th August.
Aadi Saikumar who is trying to score a single hit for years is coming once again to test his luck with 'Tees Maar Khan' on 19th August. Payal Rajput is the heroine and the movie doesn't have any buzz. Popular small screen comedian and host Sudheer is arriving with 'Wanted PanduGod' on the same day. It has Anansuya, Deepika Pilli, VIshnupriya, Srinivas Reddy and others playing key roles. This movie is arriving under the supervision of Raghavendar Rao.
Other than these three, small movies like 'Commitment', 'Maataraani Mounamidi', 'Am Aha', 'Love 2 Love' and others are also coming on 19th August. While the list is quite big, we need to wait and see how many of these manage to succeed at the box office. If these films fail to impress the audience, 'Karthikeya 2' and 'Sita Ramam' along with 'Bimbisara' will have another week to rule the box office before 'Liger' arrives on 25th August. Let us wait and see what happens.
