Ilayaraja is undoubtedly one of the talented and creative music directors in the industry. No matter how many music composers are there in the industry, this legendary musician will always hold a special place.
But, interestingly, director Shankar haven't worked with Ilayaraja yet. As per the latest reports, the director haven't roped in Ilayaraja even though he got an opportunity to do that. Recently, Shankar has revealed the reason behind it. "During the initial days of my direction, I wanted to work with Ilayaraja. In fact, I even thought of roping him in for 'Gentleman' movie. I also got an appointment to talk with him. But, I have huge respect for him that I couldn't even speak in front of him. He is a music dictionary. I felt like my knowledge is not enough to work with him. Also, I am scared of him that I can't say that I want this and that. So, I didn't took the risk of working with him." Said Shankar.
"Then we got A R Rahman on board and I continued my journey with him. However, Though I failed to work with Ilayaraja sir, I got an opportunity to act with him. We short for a commercial together" added Shankar.
