Shinde keeps distance on tussle over Naidus fast

Distancing himself from the tussle between the Andhra Pradesh government and Telugu Desam party chief Chandrababu Naidu over his indefinite fast here, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde Wednesday said it was the state's matter.

Sources said Andhra Pradesh resident commissioner Shashank Goel asked Naidu to vacate Andhra Bhavan as there was no permission for him to conduct his fast, which the TDP chief continued for the third day Wednesday.

They said Goel also requested the home ministry to ask Delhi Police to deploy additional force and help vacate the premises.

Delhi Police are directly under the home ministry's control.

Replying to queries on the request, Shinde said it was not a matter his ministry would be drawn into. "We have nothing to do with it," he said.

Meanwhile, TDP leader S. Chandramohan Reddy warned that any attempt to disrupt Naidu's fast would have serious consequences.
