Popular Singer Angry On Telangana Honor Killing

Update: 2018-09-17 08:29 GMT
The cruel murder of a Dalit man Pranay has to has left the Telugu states in shock. Recently, popular singer and dubbing artist Chinmayi responded on this. She shared a post on social media claiming that she is disheartened to hear this news and compared this murder with the honour killing of Kausalya-Shankar in Tamilnadu. Here are some of the important points from her post.

*The concept of caste is all-pervading and across religion. People believe other faiths don't have the caste identities but they do. You can't remove caste feelings from India that easily and this is what every politician plays to his advantage.

*The oppression in the name of caste is happening in this country. Kids are beaten to death for drinking from an 'upper caste' well. Humans in India have succeeded in giving even water and soil a caste certificate.

*You can't remove caste superiority feelings from your own parents siblings or relatives. Why worry about other people? That is the truth.

*People should stop saying that my relatives won't approve of this. Even in the same caste, the financial status, America visa have become the most important elements for a marriage.

*No point telling this has to change. Removing your cast name from your surname is one step. But do you have it in you to delete and remove feelings of superiority affiliated your caste?

*However, what can you do?

1. Next time someone ask you about your caste, tell them 'I don't know'
2. Stop people in your circle from speculating on the caste of a person. If you can't stop them move away after saying you don't want to participate in such discussions.
3. Read books. Don't rely on social media alone. Read on oppression, read on how village systems work why some laws came about.
4. Stop blaming the educational system. Children learn from their observation as they grow. So, change yourself to change the kids of tomorrow.
