Six men have been arrested by Punjab Police Saturday for allegedly gang-raping a 29-year-old married woman in this frontier district, police said.

The victim, in her complaint to police, said that she was travelling in a bus to her in-laws' village, Gukla, Friday evening when the bus driver and conductor forcibly took her to Gurdaspur, 260 km from Chandigarh.

She alleged that the duo took her on a motorcycle Friday night to an unknown location where five other men joined them.

The victim alleged that she was gang-raped by seven men, including the bus driver and conductor, Friday night and she was dropped off at the village Saturday morning.

She complained to the police at Kahnuwan town. Police said that her medical examination confirmed rape.

"We have arrested six accused while raids were being conducted to arrest the last one. All have been booked for rape," a police officer said.
