Veteran playback singer SP Balasubramanyam who is often referred to as 'Gana Gandharva' by his fans breathed his last on 25 September 2020 at the MGM Healthcare Hospitals Chennai.

Balasubramanyam, aka Balu, had an unfulfilled wish. He wanted to install the statues of his parents Sambamurthy and Sakanthulamma at his ancestral house in Nellore, which he has donated to run a Vedic school there.

Balu had another wish to get his own statue installed at the house. He roped in famous sculptor Raj Kumar for his statue and even confirmed the final version of the sculpture.

With fortune not in favor of him, he left the world without witnessing his own sculpture he has finalized. The legendary singer couldn't even see the sculptures of his parents being installed at his ancestral house.

Balu had planned to install the sculptures of his parents in August. The COVID-19 outbreak didn't favor the singer to install the sculptures in August.

Balu's children SP Charan, daughter SP Pallavi, and other family members have planned to fulfill his wish.
