Actor Posani Krishna Murali, who was seen in an important role in recently released Telugu romantic-comedy "Potugadu", credits the success of the film to the college students of Andhra Pradesh who flocked to theatres amid the ongoing political agitation.

"Potugadu", directed by Pawan Wadeyar, released in cinemas Sep 14.

"Due to the enduring political unrest in the state, so many films' release has been postponed and those that managed to release, received a lukewarm response. However, we were lucky because the college students from all regions of the state embraced the film and made it successful," Posani told IANS.

"On a daily basis, several theatres are being shut down in the state. We somehow managed to release the film in nearly 600 screens, and are extremely happy with the numbers. I wish all this unrest settles down soon such that all films currently postponed can be released smoothly," he added.

Big-ticket Telugu films such as "Yevadu" and "Attarintiki Daaredhi", scheduled to release months back, are awaiting a green signal for release.

"Potugadu" features Manchu Manoj, Simran Kaur Mundi, Sakshi Chaudhary, Anu Priya and Rachael. It is the Telugu remake of Kannada blockbuster "Govindaya Namaha".

The film is produced by L. Sreedhar.
