Creative director Sukumar, rustic action drama 'Pushpa' came out on 17th December and it turned out to be the biggest opener of 2021. The film has set the cash registers ringing and fans are going crazy over Allu Arjun’s phenomenal performance. While the film drew mixed reactions from the public at the beginning, the makers are confident about their product.

Prior to the release of 'Pushpa', the expectations were sky high and a major share of that hype was because of ‘Uppena’ director Buchi Babu Sana’s comparison of 'Pushpa' to 'KGF'. Buchi Babu who worked as an assistant to Sukumar before becoming a director has stated in an interview that 'Pushpa' is equal to 10 KGFs which led to a lot of discussion. People entered the theatres expecting a complete action film with a lot of hero elevation scenes but what they got was completely different.

Speaking about it, Sukumar said that both films are quite different and have their own identity. He stated that he spoke with Buchi Babu regarding this and added that the backdrop of 'KGF' is very unique while ‘Pushpa’ is novel in its own way. As we know, KGF is set in the backdrop of Kolar Gold Fields while 'Pushpa' is set the backdrop of red sanders smuggling in Seshachalam forests.

Rashmika Mandanna is the heroine and star actress Samantha did a special number 'Oo Antave Oo Oo Antave' in the film. Fahadh Faasil played the role of Bhanvar Singh Shekhawat in the film who appears in the second half while Sunil, Ajay Ghosh and others were seen as villains. The film was praised for its rustic portrayal while being criticized for its slow pace. Sukumar set the stage perfectly for 'Pushpa – The Rule' and it is expected to release by the end of next year. Devi Sri Prasad gave super hit tunes for this film while his background score received negative feedback. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, 'Pushpa' was released in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam languages. It collected a humongous gross of over 71 crores on its first day. Let us see how it fares on working days.
