It is known that 'Rangasthalam' movie is a village drama runs in the backdrop of Konaseema.  Interestingly, Sukumar says that he didn't think of Konaseema backdrop for the movie initially.  He thought of making the movie in the Rayalaseema backdrop.  Somehow how he was not that convinced that Rayalaseema backdrop will help the story..  moreover it will deviate the essence of the story.

He revealed that the concept of revenge is completely different in Rayalaseema region.. but the villain in the movie story is badman with a goodman mask.  It is not suitable to Rayalaseema so he changed the backdrop to Konaseema.  He also revealed that they have thoroughly searched several places for the suitable locations for the story.

He said that "We finalised to make it in the Konaseema backdrop but if we show full greenery, the troubles of people in the village will not be established properly.  So we searched for some dry locations in the Konaseema."  He said that the team scouted for locations in Srikakulam but it was full greenery in the district but they found the suitable locations later.

Sukumar also said that he thought of showing the villagers cultivating paddy but he changed his mind after his assistant sent him photographs of corn fields.  He said that he was excited when his assistant sent him the corn field pics.   He said that the grass fields which have been repeatedly shown in the film are near to Kolleru and they are spread over a few km.   As he liked the grass fields, he picturised more scenes in that location than he actually planned.  He opined that audience remembered it like a special character.
