Kollywood actor Suriya's recent outing in Amazon prime Jai Bhim is creating wonders be it the viewership or the ratings it has been receiving. The intense courtroom drama even surpassed all time classic Godfather in terms of ratings. To kill the happiness, the film had found itself in the middle of the controversy.

Jai Bhim had attracted objections from the Vanniyar Community which is alleging that the film had shown the community in a bad light and that it defamed them and sent a legal notice to the makers to remove a few scenes. A lawsuit for Rs 5 crores was slapped against the makers by the community leaders.

However, Suriya has been receiving constant support from the netizens and the industry people as well over the controversy. Actor Siddharth and director Vetri Maaran stood in solidarity with the actor and said they are supporting him.

Mentioning how they stood with Kamal Haasan, and Vijay, Siddharth said likewise they stand with Suriya. He said, he stands with the makers of Jai Bheem in the issue.

"We stood with Kamal Haasan. We stood with Vijay. We stand with Suriya. "We" represents anyone who believes it is cowardice to threaten an artist or the exhibition of artistic creation over differences of opinion or personal animosity." I stand with the makers of #JaiBhim," the Maha Samudram actor said in a tweet.

Director Vetri Maaran, who makes movies from the oppressed point of view opined that Suriya had redefined the stardom and said no one can be made feel lesser for doing the right thing.

"No one can be made to feel lesser for doing the right thing#Jaibheem. Suriya is one star who is redefining stardom," the Asuran director said in a Tweet.

The Vanniyar Sangam had alleged that the makers of the courtroom drama have changed the name of the cop who had a role to play in the custodial death and this has hurt them. They said that, in the real incident, the cop was a Christian, but the character was given a Vanniyar name which defames the community. They sent legal notice to makers of Jai Bheem and Amazon Prime too.
