Though it was just a five minute cameo at the end, Suriya's entry and acting as 'Rolex' in Kamal Hassan's 'Vikram' made everyone go ballistic. He set the tone perfectly for the second part of 'Vikram' which is expected to go on floors in 2023 or 2024. Rolex's character became a favourite for many within five minutes and the evil role is played amazingly by the national award winner. When asked about the role on the Filmfare stage, this is what Suriya had to say.
He stated, "Whatever I'm today, no matter what I'm doing in life, Kamal sir would've always been my inspiration. When he called and said there's an opportunity, I didn't want to let go of it. I want to share this with everyone. Whenever you're scared, that's when you want to jump. It was a last minute decision. I was going to call and tell Lokesh, I won't do it. But I did it for one man."
He said, "I think time will answer. If it comes, I will do it" when he was questioned about the return of Rolex. This video is currently going viral on social media and fans cannot wait to see him in the evil look once again.
Suriya is currently working on 'Achaludu' with director Bala and 'VadiVaasal' with Vetri Maaran. He recently launched another project with director Shiva. In the span of 25 years, Suriya bagged two National Awards, three State Awards from Tamil Nadu, four Filmfare awards, two SIIMA awards, two Edison Awards, five Vijay awards and many more. He was the only South Indian actor to be invited to the prestigious Oscar committee.
