Tamil Nadu government reverses 100% occupancy with a condition!

The Tamil Nadu government's decision to allow 100 percent occupancy in movie theatres ahead of the Pongal season raised many eyebrows which made the union government series.

The Centre stepped in and issued directives to reverse the decision, citing the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) guidelines issued for Covid-19 containment which will be in force till the 31st of January.

Following the instructions from the Centre, the Tamil Nadu government announced that the decision will be reversed and the theaters will be permitted with 50 percent occupancy.

Now it is said that the Tamil Nadu government is looking at permitting the benefit shows for the films in the state during the early hours. The official statement is awaited.

The government announced 100 percent occupancy for film theaters for the Pongal season, which is an important season for film releases in the Kollywood industry.

It is said that several actors and producers requested the state government to increase the theater occupancy to 100 percent from the existing 50 percent fixed by the MHA.

Two films, Thalapathy Vijay's Master and Silambarasan Simbu's Eshwaran are slated for a Pongal season 2021. Master will be released in Tollywood as well.
