Telangana Government kick starts vaccination drive for people above finally
Telangana Chief Minister KCR chaired a key review meeting on the Corona situations in the state on Tuesday. The committee has taken several key decisions pertaining to fighting against the dreaded virus.
One of the crucial decisions taken by the state government is to kickstart the third phase of the vaccination drive, to vaccinate people above the age of 18 against the novel Coronavirus.
However, vaccinations will be carried out in the state at private facilities only, making the vaccination drive a paid service. In order to get the vaccine doses, the beneficiaries have to register themselves at the CoWIN portal, the facility designed only for vaccine registrations.
In a circular issued by the Telangana government in the name of the Office of the Director of the Public Health and Family Welfare, it was stated that the private hospitals and PCVCs were permitted to go ahead with the vaccinations, citing the Centre's orders to vaccinate people above 18.
There is no information on the vaccine prices at the private facilities. More information on whether the private facilities can fix a price for the vaccine doses or the vaccine doses should be carried out according to the price fixed by the government is awaited.
It has to be noted that, earlier today, the vaccination drive to vaccinate people above 45 years was resumed in the state. Earlier this month, the drive was suspended with an alleged shortage of vaccine doses.
