Team India will face blackcaps New Zealand for a T20 and Test Series. India will host the series and the squad for the T20 series as Hitman Rohit Sharma was announced recently. The final squad for the long format series was also announced by the governing body in India, the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI).
Indian fans are not happy with the BCCI selectors for missing Hanuma Vihari, the Sydney test hero. Despite sweating out for long hours to help India draw the test, Vihari was not taken. One wonder, why he was not given a place in the team for the home series.
Hyderabadi commentator Harsha Bhogle was also surprised by seeing Hanuma Vihari's name missing from the list. Bhogle said there is no reason for Vihari to miss the selection after seeing what he did in the Sydney test.
"Am I missing something here? I cannot see a reason why #HanumaVihari is not in the test squad for #IndvsNZ. Injury? Can't be on cricketing groundsâ¦.there hasn't been any first-class cricket. Surely it can't be right. His last innings for India was that heroic effort at Sydney," Harsha Bhogle's tweet reads.
However, the BCCI selectors gave a spot for Hanuma Vihari for India's tour of South Africa for a Test series. He was named in the India 'A' team. He will fly to South Africa and practice there to get familiar with the conditions there.
