Pelli Chupulu director Tharun Bhasker recently expressed his anguish at the way Award Functions conducted these days. He took potshots at the Award Functions saying that they are giving more importance to stardom rather than the actual content. The reason for his disappointment is quite obvious. 'Pelli Chupulu' didn't get any awards in the recent award functions execept an award comedian Priayadarshi.
Coming to the present, Tharun is a delighted man with the announcement of 64th National Awards. Tharun Bhasker was awarded as a best writer in the awards. Tharun said that "I consider Mani Ratnam garu as a god. I went to the first day first show of 'Cheliya' today. When I came out of the theater, I heard the news that I got a National Award. It was like a blessing showered on me."
Apart from the Best Dialogues Award, 'Pelli chupulu' received the award for Best Feature film (Telugu). Responding on the awards he said that Awards are always encouraging and thanked everyone who supported him in the journey of 'Pelli Chupulu'.
