The theatre industry in Andhra Pradesh has been facing a series of shocks in Andhra Pradesh with the continuous raids on the theatres in the state. This comes as a hammer blow to the industry which was already impacted by the massive reduction in the ticket rates.
Adding more troubles to the industry, the revenue department officials and other officers are seizing the theatres holding them responsible for the violation of various rules. As per the data, not less than 175 theatres across the state have been shut since the controversial Government Order 35 came into effect.
The count of theatres that are shut in the state might be even more as a few theater owners have shut the theatres as it is getting difficult for them to continue to run the business. To see that things get under control, the theatre owners are reportedly taking things into their own hands.
If we have to take anything from the media reports, the theatre owners and distributors have sought an appointment from Minister Perni Nani, and permission for the same is expected to come very soon. They are hoping that they can meet the Minister and list out the issues faced by them.
However, there is no official information on the proposed meeting. Even the Andhra Pradesh government did not make any announcement regarding the meeting. We have to see if the meeting will do wonders for the industry.
