This Producer Lost Rs 150 Crore In 20 Films!

Update: 2019-08-28 04:50 GMT
Prasad V Potluri admitted he lost Rs 150 crore in around 20 feature films he produced so far. Still, This Producer claims to have learnt a lot and thankful to the Film Industry. 'I had to unlearn whatever knowledge I had gained in the business. This experience fetched good returns for Me in other business,' he disclosed.

Inspite of having 60 to 70 percent success rate, PVP incurred a mammoth loss of Rs 150 crore because of two big disasters. Most of the loss is due to the utter failure of 'Brahmotsavam'. 'Even before the shoot began, I sent an email to Director Srikanth Addala mentioning 3 Points (Don't want to start shoot without a bound script, We have been investing Rs 100 crore, I will have to take the responsibility if the movie fails). I can show you that email now itself. If Directors play the gamble by starting the shoot without a bound script, It's not fair. I couldn't either control or walk out of that project because it was beyond my capacity,' he admits.

PVP didn't hesitate to say Producer is just a doormat in the Film Industry. He disclosed Two of the biggest directors in South India (Kollywood) don't even allow Producers to come to the sets. 'I can challenge you that 99 percent of the Producers watch the movie only 48 hours before the release,' confirms PVP.

Humility of SS Rajamouli and the profit-sharing method he is following for every movie is being appreciated by PVP. He believes the Industry will progress if Hero, Director and Producer opt for profit sharing.
