A movie becomes successful only because of the team work. If a big budget movie becomes a hit, only the director and hero gets the credit, but if a small movie becomes a blockbuster, then the credit goes to the entire team. The same happened with the most happening movie Arjun Reddy.
After the hero, director and heroine the first person to get the credit is the cinematographer Thota Raju. Though he has movie background from the start, he is new to the camera field. He entered the industry as the son of makeup man Venkat. "My father used to do makeup for Mohan Babu Garu. I also used to visit the sets on holidays. That's when my interest towards movie started. The people who will be busy while shooting a movie are the actors, director, and cinematographer. After thinking so much I opted cinematography." Said Thota Raju.
He used to work under cinematographer Surender Reddy and is also the student of Mohan Babu. Raju had the experience of working as a second unit camera man for Bollywood movies Ishq and Raj Kumar. He also did some clash works for some movies including Pelli Choopulu. If the original cinematographer is busy handling two projects, then the junior cinematographer continuing the shooting is called clash work.
Vijay Devarakonda gave the cinematography opportunity for Thota Raju in Arjun Reddy. "The long shots are the reason behind the lively feel in the movie. We used to picturize every scene for 7-8 minutes. To make it original, I used to put the camera on my shoulders. After working some time because of the heavy weight my hands used to shiver." Added Thota Raju.
